no tryouts, no pressure

Building Players, Referees, and Future Leaders

Two soccer players contest for the ball during a match on a soccer field with other players watching in the background.

At The Woodstock Soccer Project, we believe every kid deserves a place to play, learn, and belong. Our Youth Development Training is designed to help players of all levels grow their skills, confidence, and character — while creating real pathways for youth to become referees, coaches, and community leaders.

Player Development Events

• 3v3 & 4v4 Festivals: Fun, low-cost weekend tournaments focused on creativity and teamwork.
• Community Skill Sessions: Open field nights led by licensed coaches focusing on technique, ball mastery, and confidence.
• Seasonal Camps: Short, high-energy camps during school breaks emphasizing fundamentals and sportsmanship.

We host small-sided soccer events that make the game fun, competitive, and accessible to everyone — without interfering with club schedules.

Goal: Give every player more chances to play and connect — no tryouts, no pressure.

Referee & Coach Pathways

We’re proud to partner with Illinois Youth Soccer Association and U.S. Soccer to provide certification and mentorship for aspiring referees and coaches.

• Referee Certification Clinics: Local courses for youth (ages 13+) to earn their first badge and gain field experience.
• Coach Education Workshops: Introductory licensing and mentoring for parents and players interested in leadership.
• Mentorship Opportunities: Experienced players can assist at camps, referee festivals, or help coach younger age groups.

Goal: Build a sustainable pipeline of referees and coaches in our local soccer community.

Leadership Through Soccer

Our Youth Advisory Council gives teens a voice in how events are planned and run. Members help organize tournaments, promote participation, and represent the player community — learning teamwork, communication, and leadership along the way.

Upcoming 2026 Opportunities
• Spring 2026: Community 3v3 Kickoff Festival
• Summer 2026: Youth Referee Certification Day
• Fall 2026: Open Play & Coaching Workshop Series
